Under19s hir four on restart

Although clearly influenced by the many months of inaction, PAOK’s Under-19 side were as consistent and effective as ever on Sunday, beating Apollon Smyrnis 4-0 on Matchday 8 of the Super League championship on its restart – a result which means they remain at the top of the table with 21 points.

Malezas’s and Papavassiliou’s team played some good football in patches, scored four beautiful goals, and of course continued their winning form (7 from 7 this season) – a result which saw the young stars notch up their 79th unbeaten match. PAOK’s next match is with PAS Ioannina in Souroti on Saturday, May 29.

The Double-headed Eagle opened the scoring in the 14th minute through Gordeziani, although the team continued to try and find their ryhthmn throughout the remainder of the first half. What they could not find in the first half came in a stormy fashion in the second half, however, with three more goals and several further important opportunities. In the 58th minute Grosdis scored with a shot from outside the penalty area to make it 2-0, while after 61 minutes Aventisian slotted home a penalty that Smyrlis had won. Finally, Gordeziani made it 4-0 with his second of the game in the 88th minute thanks to an assist from Grosdis.

PAOK lineup:

Balomenos, Aventisian, Tassiouras (85′ Kitsakis), Panagiotou, Koulierakis (85′ Manolioudis), Grosdis, Spirakos (58′ Smyrlis), Koutentakis, Gordeziani, Vrakas (65′ Karaberis), Tsopou.
