«80 years have passed since the events of 1940 which are etched into Greece’s history as the triumph of the Greek nation, a nation that refused to compromise with the impending evil of fascism.

Today, all over the world, Greeks bow to the blessed memory of those who passed away and lived through the hardships of World War II, experiencing, at the same time, a sense of pride and participation in the great events of those years.

Back then, one morning in October 1940, the desire to show decisive resistance to those invading united our people, making the Greek «NO» one of the brightest symbols of patriotism, courage and self-sacrifice of the whole nation in the name of a higher purpose.

Today, as in those difficult years, we all need courage, patience, dedication and discipline. We must unite again in the face of impending external and internal threats in order to protect the health of the nation, the prosperity, and the interests of the Greek people.

And the achievement of our ancestors will forever remain for us a worthy example of faithful service and love for the Homeland.

In the eternal memory to the fallen.

«Peace, health and prosperity to all who live today.»
