Douglas wins Regency Casino Best Goal of the Season award
Just before the 2020-21 season kicks off, the time has come to hand out the final award from last season. And Douglas Augusto is the man who takes home the Regency Casino Best Goal of the Season 2019-20.
He was a player who decided to take a big step in the summer of 2019 and leave Corinthians to switch to PAOK, crossing the Atlantic Ocean for the first time in his life to accept the Thessaloniki club’s proposal.
Douglas Augusto started the season in dynamic fashion, adapting quickly and making 22 appearances, while also scoring two goals and providing one assist before the lockdown. Unfortunately on returning to training he had a date with misfortune and has not played a minute since due to an injury.
In the match against Larissa he scored a wonderful goal. He picked up possession far from goal, but he did not hesitate and showed great confidence in striking an unbelievable long-range effort into the back of the net.
In the poll for the Regency Casino Best Goal of the Season, the Brazilian’s wonder strike received 44, 59% of the votes which saw him take home the award, with Giannis Michailidis’ free-kick against OFI second, and Josip Misic’s exceptional hit also against OFI in Heraklion taking third place.
