Decade All Stars 2010-20: Right Winger

This is another position which seems that everybody’s mind may be already made up, with Andre Vieirinha being the absolute favorite for a place in the best starting XI of the decade. His competition for that place on the right are Dimitris Limnios and Lucas Perez, two exceptional players who have wrote their names into the club’s history books. Let’s have a more detailed look at the candidates.
Andre Vieirinha
In the summer of 2008 PAOK took a young right winger on loan from FC Porto. While his appearance did not inspire initially, when he got the ball at his feet, it took him only a few minutes to show that he would be a player that the fans would adore. Andre Vieirinha is considered to be one of the best players ever to represent the club, as well as one of the best foreigners in Greek football.
The Leader was excellent in his first spell with the club, then he left for Germany and Wolfsburg, where he enjoyed a brilliant career, won Euro 2016 with the Portuguese national team, before then returning to PAOK to lead the team back to the top.
His stats read 215 appearances, 42 goals, 39 assists, one league championship, and two Greek Cups, while he has also worn the captain’s armband and has played in virtually every position except that of goalkeeper.
Lucas Perez
He was part of the PAOK squad from 2013 to 2015, but only played one season as he was initially loaned out to Deportivo La Coruna and at the end of the loan he made a permanent switch to Spain.
However, in one season he spent as a Dikefalos tou Vorra player, he made sure to leave his mark. He played 52 games, scored 12 goals, and provided 16 assists for the Black and Whites. He then transferred to Arsenal, played also for West Ham, and he now plays for Alaves in La Liga.
Dimitris Limnios
He started his career in the youth academy of Atromitos, and there he played for the first team from a young age, attracting attention from several of the bigger clubs. PAOK moved for him in a flash and from the summer of 2017 have helped him realize his potential. Dimitris Limnios has now established himself in the first team and is considered one of the greatest hopes of Greek football.
With PAOK, so far he has made 101 appearances, scoring 10 goals, and has provided 13 assists. He has won two Greek Cups and a league championship, playing a leading role in the team.
