On this day: 4-1 against Olympiacos at the Toumba

On Sunday March 25 1990 it was the 26th round of the championship with PAOK playing host to Olympiacos.

25.03.2020

PAOK’s dominance was apparent right from the kick-off, wth the home side taking the lead after just 10 minutes through Kostas Lagonidis. Olympiacos responded immediately however. The visitors levelled thanks to Mitroglou’s shot after Tsalouchidis’ initial effort had hit the woodwork following a free-kick delivered by Detari.

Giorgos Kartados, who had provided the assist for the opening goal, put PAOK back in front with a great shot from inside the penalty area after 35 minutes, and on 40 minutes he was called upon to take a penalty which was won by Stefanos Borbokis. Olympiacos goalkeeper Alekos Rantos guessed right, however, and stopped the spot-kick, only for Skartados to score from the rebound with a header to make it 3-1 going into half-time.

Skartados hit the post once more in the second half, but the fourth goal had already come courtesy of Alexouli’s brilliant, long-range shot in the 47th minute.

PAOK’s starting lineup:

Gitsioudis, Karageorgiou, Malioufas, Mitsimbonas, Skartados, Tolba, Toursounidis, Lagonidis, Alexoulis (68′ El Sayed), Anastasiadis, Borbokis.
