Unstoppable Under-19’s defeat Panetolikos
PAOK’s Under-19 side extended their remarkable two-year unbeaten run to 60 matches on Saturday after taking all three points thanks to a 3-0 win over Panetolikos in Agrinio on Super League Matchday 14.
Pablo Garcia and Miroslav Schnauzner’s players were on top form once more to earn another impressive away win at a place which is traditionally a tough place to pick up points. As a result, PAOK remain top of the table, five points clear of Panathinaikos, who have played two games less.
The match was played on a heavy pitch following 24 hours of pouring rain on Friday (13.12). That did nt prevent the PAOK players from dominating proceedings, however.
Right from the kick-off it was clear that the visitors meant business, with Tsiggaras opening the scoring with a header after just seven minutes from Michailidis’ assist. PAOK’s dominance was such that the home side failed to trouble Talichmanidis’ goal throughout the first half, failing to register a single goal attempt.
In the second half, the pattern of the game did not change much, although the home side did enjoy more possession, grew in confidence and began to trouble the PAOK defence, which was expected at some point.
But on the hour mark came the crucial second goal for PAOK to kill off the game as a contest. Kaloutsikidis released Koutsias and the latter managed to score to make it 2-0. From that point on the result was never in doubt, as the tempo dropped and Karaberis was able to add some gloss on the scoreline for PAOK with a third goal in added time thanks to another Kaloutsikidis assist.
PAOK line-up:
