Under-19’s draw a blank against Olympiacos
The honors were even in Sunday’s derby clash between PAOK’s Under-19’s and Olympiacos, as the Super League Matchday 12 contest ended in a goalless draw.
Both teams looked a little jaded having come into the match on the back of European fixtures, resulting in what was a poor spectacle rather than an exciting derby clash.
PAOK began brightly and was dominant overall in the first half, also missing a golden chance to score after 23 minutes when Tziolis worked himself into a one-on-one situation with the home goalkeeper.
In the second half Olympiacos were the better side and managed to enjoy the lion’s share of possession. Despite that, the hosts failed to create clear scoring chances and PAOK goalkeeper Talichmanidis was rarely troubled. Garcia’s PAOK players tried to attack on the break but more often than not, the final ball let the visitors down.
After this result, the Dikefalos tou Vorra continue to lead the standings with 30 points, two points ahead of Panathinaikos who have played a game less.
PAOK line-up:
Talichmanidis, Kaloutsikidis (90+3′ Grosdis), Tachatos, Michailidis, Panagiotou, Tsiggaras, Salamouras, Giaxis, Tziolis (90+3′ Tsopouroglou), Koutsias (84′ Gorteziani), Panidis (68′ Pournaras)
