Under-19’s held to draw in Peristeri
In a thrilling contest against Atromitos in Peristeri, PAOK’s Under-21 side had to settle for a 3-3 draw in their third match of the new season.
The result represents the first dropped points for Pablo Garcia and Mirosław Sznaucner’s side, at a place where it is traditionally tough to pick up points. PAOK’s young guns could have actually come away with the win, but a combination of a lack of concentration and misfortune meant they had to settle for one point instead of three.
Despite the strong winds, the first half featured some great play from both sides. PAOK went 1-0 up in the 30th minute through a goal from Panidi who converted Doumtsis assist. And that’s the way the scoreline remained up to half-time.
After 55 minutes PAOK doubled its advantage through Giaxi, but Atromitos fought back. A penalty after 66 minutes and a long-range strike in the 79th minute brought the scores level at 2-2.
PAOK then took the lead for the second time in the match through Tzolis’ effort with just seven minutes left, but in the first minute of added time Atromitos pulled level – again from the penalty spot to make it 3-3. Four minutes later Doumtsis passed up a golden chance to score and give PAOK the win when he hit the post from the penalty spot after Tzolis had been fouled.
