He has been at PAOK for three years now. He doesn’t go after the spotlights. His name rarely makes headlines. Whenever brought up though, it’s always for something positive. And he always steps up when the team need him, to support his team-mates.

Just like it happened in the previous two seasons, Yevhen Shakhov was mainly considered as a back-up option –he was an understudy for the first part of the current season. However the injuries suffered by Pontus Wernbloom and José Alberto Cañas paved his way to the starting line-up. He hasn’t looked back since January.

#MrColdBlood got into rhythm and became a valuable tool for Răzvan Lucescu . He offered the balance the Romanian tactician was looking for, he responded to his defensive and attacking duties with consistency and his clear mind allowed PAOK to get out of tough situations. Furthermore, he adjusted perfectly to the game of every partner he got in PAOK’s midfield line.

Shakhov shone in April. His boom made him a candidate for the MVP title of April and your vote confirmed that he belongs at the top.

In the poll held for 11888 MVP of April, Shakhov got 54,18% of the vote and landed the award. In-form Diego Biseswar came second, while Léo Matos completed the podium.

The Ukrainian midfielder scored three goals (a definite improvement from the one goal of last season) and was an ideal partner for Sérgio Oliveira in midfield.
