PAOK U17s qualify for the final

This extraordinary season is nearing to a close. After the senior team, the U19s and the U15s, it’s the turn of the “Double-Headed Eagle’s” U17 side to win their respective league. The final between PAOK and Olympiakos will kick off on Holy Thursday at 13:00 in Agrinio.

22.04.2019

PAOK U17s overcame the obstacle of Panathinaikos and are now one match away from claiming yet another trophy for the “Double-Headed Eagle” in this triumphant season. The pupils of Alexis Alexiadis and Ebe Hagan showed strength of character and prevailed 2-0 over the Greens with a brace by their top scorer Christos Tzolis.

The first half was rather uneventful –with the exception of a save Balomenos pulled off in the 27th minute. After the interval, PAOK were in total control. Tzolis’s goal in the 51st minute was ruled out correctly on the offside rule, but he didn’t get discouraged. Five minutes later, he gave PAOK the lead with a rebound shot as Panathinaikos’s goalkeeper failed to clear the ball following Kitsakis’s cross.

Panathinaikos were reduced to 10 players at the stroke of the hour, making things easier for the “Double-Headed Eagle”. Three minutes later, Karamperis’s free-kick was stopped with a handfoul and PAOK were awarded a penalty. Tzolis stepped up to convert it, extending his team’s lead in the 63rd minute.

The match was practically over, as nothing of note happened in the remaining minutes.

PAOK U17: Balomenos, Τsopouroglou (68’ Κonstantelias), Αventisian, Κoulierakis, Panagiotou, Κaramperis, Pitiliaris (46’ Κitsakis), Κoutentakis (46’ Gortegiani), Τzolis (84’ Κouidis), Grosdis, Karakoutis (78’ Theodoridis).
