Giannoulis back home

PAOK FC announce that Dimitris Giannoulis returns to the club after his loan spell at Atromitos. The 23-year old left full-back also signed his contract extension with the “Double-Headed Eagle” until June 2022.

21.01.2019

Born in Katerini on 17 October 1995, Dimitris Giannoulis started his career in Vataniakos’s academy. PAOK scouts spotted him and the club signed him at the age of 18. In the summer of 2014, it was decided to ship him on loan to Pierikos to get playing time.

He featured in 28 Football League encounters as left winger and made an impression. The next stop of his journey was Veria.

His winger days were over and he reinvented himself as full-back. While still coming to grips with his new position, he played in 26 encounters and his performances earned him the accolade of Super League’s Rookie of the season and the right to search for his opportunity back at PAOK.

He didn’t get enough playing time at Toumba and in January 2017 he left again, joining Cypriot club Anorthosis on loan. After eight matches there, he returned to Greece in the summer of 2017 for the sake of Atromitos. In his 18 months in Peristeri, he established himself as one of the best full-backs in Greece, he made his debut for the Greece national team and attracted interest from Stade Rennais FC and UC Sampdoria.

He featured in 54 encounters of Atromitos and provided 14 assists. Now Giannoulis is back in Toumba, aiming to stay and improve further.

Welcome back, Dimitris!
