Qualification sealed with a second victory
Without impressing, but with substance in their game, PAOK U19s prevailed 2-0 over AEL Limassol in Kaftanzoglio. With their second victory in the tie, they progressed to the round of 16 in the UEFA Youth League Domestic Champions path, where they will face Minsk (Belarus).
PAOK started into the game with all systems go. They went very close to an early lead, but Tzovaras’s header struck the post in the 5th minute. The match pace dropped considerably after that and the next noteworthy chance was created 25 minutes later.
At the stroke of half hour, Gaitanidis wasted a triple (!) opportunity to score from close up. He atoned for it however just before the interval, netting the opener with a simple tap-in.
The same player completed his brace in the 50th minute, all but sealing his team’s victory. Pablo García’s troops tried to extend their lead, but they weren’t successful.
PAOK youngsters advance to the next round of the UEFA Youth League on a 4-1 aggregate score and are gearing up for their ties against Minsk, who qualified at the expense over Hungarian side Szombathelyi Haladás.
