Crespo lands 11888 MVP award again
Usually in football, defenders earn praise and forwards get the silverware. PAOK’s reality though is quite different. For a second consecutive time –and totally deserving it- José Ángel Crespo won the 11888 MVP award.
The Spanish central defender was voted MVP for a second consecutive month in the poll held on paokfc.gr and PAOK FC Official App, collecting a total 50,96% of the vote. It’s a rare distinction for a defender, but indicative of his contribution to PAOK’s tough matches so far in Greece and Europe.
José Ángel Crespo is the kind of player every coach wants on his team. He puts his strong personality at the service of the squad, has substance in his game, is intelligent and quick in his reactions – the essence of a modern defender. He is in his third season at the “Double-Headed Eagle” and will reach a milestone in upcoming days: he has already featured in 95 games for PAOK and is about to reach the three digits…
He is a low-key person, but has already won over his team-mates with his outgoing character and unique sense of humour. The fans however didn’t vote for him because he can tell a good joke, but because he is a no-nonsense player on the pitch serving as the ultimate guard of Alexandros Paschalakis’s goal.
We knew that the Greek goalkeeper, who recently earned his first call in the senior national squad, is talented. In September he also proved he has a strong personality and character to leave bad moments behind, earning him second place in the 11888 MVP vote. The podium of the poll was completed by Aleksandar Prijović. The tip of the spear. Forcing the ball into the back of the net is second nature to him.
