Vote for Regency Casino Best Goal 2017

A few days before bidding farewell to 2017, paokfc.gr and PAOK FC Official App in cooperation with Regency Casino hand you the opportunity to vote for the best goal scored by PAOK in these past twelve months. Which is the Best Goal of 2017? You decide…

29.12.2017

It was a year full of intense moments. Joys, sorrows, a title, new faces and hard-fought battles on all fronts. However, when speaking of a football team, goals are the ultimate factor. It’s time to vote for the best goal of the year.

Five players, nine goals that claimed their own spot in 2017 history.

Dimitris Pelkas enters the contest with four candidate goals. First, the buzzer-beater scored against Panionios last season, on a headed assist by Giannis Mystakidis. Second, the outstanding direct free-kick against Panathinaikos in the second leg of the Greek Cup semi-finals, a goal that paved the way to an astonishing turnaround.

Pelkas continued scoring beautiful goals in the current season as well. His side kick in Kaftanzoglio against Levadiakos on an assist by Limnios as well as that sumptuous goal against Panathinaikos for the Super League increase his chances of eventually prevailing in our contest. However he has some tough competition to face.

Our next “gladiator” comes from the rearguard. However Léo Matos is not the most typical defender. He scores more often than many strikers and is also a contender for the Best Goal 2017 accolade with two efforts. His goal against Levadiakos last season with chest control and volleyed shot, as well as his header against Panionios in the dying minutes of the Nea Smyrni encounter in November make him a firm candidate for the individual trophy.

PAOK’s top scorer Aleksandar Prijović is also vying for the Best Goal accolade with one of his earlier efforts, a few days after signing for the “Double-Headed Eagle”, in the away match against Xanthi for the Greek Cup. He controlled the ball with his chest and “executed” the rival goalkeeper without thinking twice.

Gojko Cimirot is also a candidate. He doesn’t score often but, when on target, he does it in spectacular fashion. His astonishing goal from long range against FC Olimpik Donetsk for the UEFA Europa League qualifiers is the only bright moment that the “Double-Headed Eagle” should keep from their European adventure in the summer of 2017.

Last but not least, Maurício. The Brazilian player joined PAOK on the last day of the summer transfer window and needed just a little adjustment period before starting to score for the “Double-Headed Eagle”. He netted a spectacular brace against Asteras Tripolis –the second goal of that evening was a beauty and completes the line-up of our contest.
