PAOK in the UEFA Europa League Top 20
UEFA issued their list with the top sides in the UEFA Europa League competition from 1971 to date and PAOK feature in 18th place.
PAOK are the top Greek side in the UEFA Europa League history, according to the list issued by UEFA, with 24 participations in the competition. They have featured in 130 games, won 51, drew 40 and lost 39, having scored 182 goals and conceded 145.
PAOK boast 142 points and are listed 18th among 943 clubs having participated in the competition. FC Internazionale Milano are at the top of the ranks, while Club Brugge KV and Tottenham Hotspur FC complete the podium. The “Double-Headed Eagle” stand above powerhouses such as Club Atlético de Madrid, ACF Fiorentina and Borussia Dortmund.
As for the remaining Greek clubs in the UEFA Europa League, AEK Athens are in 58th place, Panathinaikos in 59th, Olympiacos in 85th and Aris in 133rd.
There is also black-and-white representation in the top players’ lists of the competition. Dimitris Salpingidis stands 3rd in the all-time appearances list, with 76 matches to his name, just one behind Giuseppe Bergomi and Frank Rost.
The former forward of PAOK is high-placed in the all-time top scorers’ list as well. He is 12th, with 23 goals scored for PAOK and Panathinaikos. Stefanos Athanasiadis with 18 goals and Róbert Mak with 11 goals will get the opportunity to climb further up the standings this season.
