Mystakidis lands Regency Casino Best Goal of 2016 award
Giannis Mystakidis’s amazing header against AEK Athens in the Super League play-offs was voted by PAOK fans as Regency Casino Best Goal of 2016 in the poll organized by paokfc.gr and PAOK FC Official App.
In a mini league like the play-offs, the opening encounter can prove decisive. PAOK recorded a very important victory in their first play-off match last season against AEK Athens, behind closed doors in Toumba Stadium.
Giannis Mystakidis sealed that win. He was introduced from the bench in the 81st minute and went on to decide the match two minutes later. Giorgos Tzavellas provided a pin-point long cross, Mystakidis saw that the rival goalkeeper was away from his goal and made it 2-1 with an impressive lobbed header.
Mystakidis’s goal was voted by 42,78% of those who voted on paokfc.gr and PAOK FC Official App and landed the award for Regency Casino Best Goal of 2016. Garry Rodrigues’s buzzer beater in Florence was voted in second place, while Gojko Cimirot’s impressive volley against Panathinaikos in Leoforos came third.
