PAOK on ready-to-fight mode
There are three days left until PAOK’s season kicks off in Amsterdam Arena. The “Double-Headed Eagle” face AFC Ajax for a shot at the dream, a place in the UEFA Champions League play-offs.
Training now aims specifically to the best possible preparation for Tuesday’s tie. Vladan Ivić and his players worked on tactics with the coach of PAOK explaining to them what they need to do on the pitch in order to neutralize their opponent’s attacking power and make the most of their weaknesses.
Stefanos Athanasiadis trained normally without complaining of pains in the groin, while Léo Matos followed a personalized program due to a knock sustained in his hamstring during the encounter against Apollon Limassol. The Brazilian defender will make an effort to train alongside his teammates on Sunday. Djalma Campos also trained on his own due to muscle fatigue.
Fernando Varela worked for the first time with his new team and did personalized work along with Εrgys Kace. The 28-year old central defender, who hasn’t yet shaken off his hamstring injury (sustained during preseason at FC Steaua București), will do special rehabilitation and reintegration training in the next few days.
