Cimirot, Antonis back to international duty

Ahead of the international fixtures scheduled for late March, PAOK players are called to duty.

09.03.2016

He joined the “Double-Headed Eagle” to boost his career. Through his outstanding performances in recent weeks, Gojko Cimirot gained the trust of Mehmed Baždarević and has been recalled to the Bosnia and Herzegovina national team after one year. He had joined them for the last time on 31.03.2015 for the friendly encounter against Austria. Bosnia will play away at Luxembourg on 25 March and, four years later, they have a tough test against strong Switzerland. However, it is not certain yet that the player will be available for these matches, as he is recovering from a calf injury.

Terry Antonis makes also his comeback to the national team of Australia after one year of absence. He has lately playing more for PAOK and will return to the Socceroos, as Ange Postecoglou included him in the squad for the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Tajikistan (24 March in Adelaide) and Jordan (29 March in Sydney).

Antonis was part of the Olympic team of Australia who participated in the pre-Olympic tournament in January and an unused member of the squad for the 2015 Asia Cup. He put on the Australia shirt for the last time in 2012 for a friendly encounter against Chinese Taipei. A former player of PAOK, Apostolos Giannou, has also been called for the Socceroos.

Mak and Sabo preselected

Róbert Mak and Erik Sabo have been included in Slovakia’s preselection for the friendly encounters against Latvia (25 March) and the Republic of Ireland (29 March).

It’s certain that Mak will be in the final list, but it remains to be seen if Ján Kozák will also include Sabo, who has been regularly playing for Slovakia since moving to PAOK.
