Chess at PAOK [photos]
The Chess Section of Amateur PAOK organized an excellent simultaneous exhibition game on Saturday at Toumba Stadium.
Grand maître Thanos Mastrovasilis played against various players of the “Double-Headed Eagle”. Among them were Nikos Korovesis and Charis Charisis. This exhibition game aimed at attracting interest for the sport of chess, especially among the younger generation.
Chess is up- and coming in Greece in recent years and several players distinguish themselves in international tournaments. Mr. Mastrovasilis faced young and older players of PAOK and acknowledged that their level is outstanding. The 20 simultaneous games all ended in favour of the master –one of them ended in draw.
