Please accept my celebratory salute on the occasion of one of the most significant dates in Greek history, the day of “No”.

Seventy-five years ago, the Greek nation showcased around the world their huge courage and persistent struggle against fascism. Thanks to their unity and rallying, Greeks resisted the oppressors and defended the ideals of freedom, peace and humanism.

The opus of these patriots, who sacrificed their lives for their country, will forever be carved in the annals of history and serve as guiding light for future generations.

By honouring our heroic forefathers and all heroes who relieved the world from fascism, today more than ever we must fight for unity and solidarity, both domestically and in-between nations.

We must defend the ideals of peace and creativity along with our right to free choice and we must engage actively in issues regarding the future of our historic country and of mankind.
