«We have to win»
Róbert Mak spoke to Novasports TV ahead of the encounter against Iraklis in Kaftanzoglio. Here is what the Slovakian star said:
On Slovakia’s qualification to Euro 2016:
«It’s just amazing. Beautiful days for Slovakia and myself. We celebrated a bit after the match, but a footballer’s life is tough. I returned, I rested and I am ready for PAOK’s next game«.
On whether he tease his Greece teammates for not making it to the finals:
«No, no. It’s the first time that Slovakia will participate in the final tournament, but Greece have already won it. If we also win the Euro trophy, then I might tease them. For now, I am happy because we achieved something great for our country, our football and ourselves. Greece tried but didn’t make it. Hopefully they will qualify next time«.
On whether he is in the form of his life and why is that:
«We are still in the start of the season. Things in football can go downhill in no time. I have started the season well. First of all, I play in a different position and switched from midfield to attack. I score more, create more chances and try to help the team. For me this is a perfect spot now and I feel great. We will see how that works in upcoming games, but for now I feel good because my coach trusts in me despite having wasted several chances to score. I remain on target and I want to help PAOK in next matches with my goals«.
On PAOK’s aims during the season:
«Our team has changed a lot this season. We have several newcomers, we changed our tactics, we have changed many things and it’s tough for a new team to go on and win the league from the first season. We go step by step, match by match. We are trying to do our game, give it all and we’ll see where that will lead us until the end of the season. We want to give everything in each game and, if that leads us to the league title, it will be good. We will do our best in Greece and Europe gradually and we’ll see what that brings and what we will have to improve for the next season«.
On the encounter against Iraklis:
«For us it’s just our next match in the league. For them perhaps it’s one of the most important games of the season. We will be prepared as always for the game. We worked hard and aim to win. We will do our best and see what that brings on Sunday«.
