Awards day at Toumba
Mak, Tzavellas and Pelkas were presented with their awards for 11888 MVP and Regency Casino Best Goal of August and September in an event held at Toumba Stadium. Here is what the three players told media representatives.
Róbert Mak was presented with two awards. He was voted 11888 MVP of August and having scored Regency Casino Best Goal of September, as voted in the respective polls of paokfc.gr. The Slovak player spoke about these accolades, his national team’s qualification to the Euro 2016 finals, but also focused on the importance of the upcoming league match against Iraklis:
«Awards are very important and I would like to thank our fans. It’s good to receive them. I am always striving for PAOK’s benefit. Slovakia’s qualification to the Euro finals ranks among the highlights of my career. I am happy about it, but it is now in the past and I will deal with it again in the end of the season. But I am very happy. The upcoming Thessaloniki derby against Iraklis is very important for both sides. We will do our best to win it. We didn’t make it against Olympiacos and now it’s high time to win«.

He worked hard, reinvented himself and was vindicated with the ultimate acknowledgement: an award voted by the team’s fans. The 11888 MVP of September Giorgos Tzavellas, who has been trying to shake off a viral infection these days, collected his award and spoke about it and the team’s return to action after the international break:
«It’s great to receive awards, especially when fans decide them. I also wish to thank my teammates, who made it possible. I hope to have recovered until Sunday and play in Kaftanzoglio. I will try to be there, I don’t want to miss it. As I said before the Olympiacos match, every match is three points. We didn’t make it against Olympiacos. We have to fight to win. We are better than Iraklis, but still have to prove it on the pitch«.
«Continuous work to establish myself»
His goal made Europe take notice. He had clinched the award from the moment the ball landed at the back of the net. Dimitris Pelkas was presented with his accolade for Regency Casino Best Goal of August and then spoke about his return to PAOK from loan, his first cap for Greece national team and his future:
«My spell on loan in Portugal helped me and I returned ready to establish myself at PAOK. I worked hard and will continue to do so. I hope to keep improving constantly. Playing for the national team is every player’s dream. It’s important to keep moving forward and set new targets«.
