He watched from the bench as Greece suffered yet another humiliating loss to Faroe Islands. On Tuesday 16 June, the national team faces Poland in Gdansk.

The Slovakian attacking midfielder stood out in the 2-1 victory over FYROM. Mak has recovered from his back problem that troubled him throughout the play-offs. He played all 90 minutes on Sunday, provided the assist to Marek Hamšík for the second goal and created two decent chances but couldn’t convert them.

PAOK midfielder recorded a memorable comeback to international duty. Almost one year after playing in the friendly against Romania (31.05.2014), he was in Albania’s starting line-up against France and was the one to seal their memorable victory.

As right interior in Gianni De Biasi’s 4-3-3 formation, he put on a very good performance. He beat Hugo Lloris with a direct free kick –reminiscent of his strike against AO Kerkyra- for the final 1-0. He was cautioned and was taken off the pitch in the 80th minute.

His task against the mighty team of Chile, hosts of the Copa América, was tough to begin with. Christian Noboa’s Ecuador couldn’t make it in their opening encounter and lost 2-0. The midfielder of PAOK was in the starting line-up and featured as a defensive midfielder in Gustavo Quinteros’ 4-4-2.

Noboa touched the ball 41 times, had a 73,3% pass accuracy and helped defensively with two interceptions and two steals. His rating of 6,4 puts him in 5th place of Ecuador’s players.

Efthymis Koulouris

The young forward of PAOK was Greece U19s’ captain in the first of two friendly encounters against Denmark. Greece prevailed 4-2 and Koulouris scored twice (6’ pen., 35’) before getting substituted in the 70th minute. In the second friendly, a 2-2 draw, the 19-year old player of the “Double-Headed Eagle” was introduced in the game after 63 minutes of play.

Greece host the upcoming UEFA European U-19 Championship from 6 to 19 July at Veria, Katerini and Larissa.

Stelios Pozoglou was a substitute in the first Greece U19 friendly against Denmark and came off the bench at the stroke of the hour. He started the second match and was substituted at half-time.
