Stuck in last place

Play-offs started at the wrong end, did not go as planned and concluded with the worst possible scenario. PAOK lost 1-0 to Asteras at Tripolis and will have to begin their European journey as early as the 16th of July.

PAOK players did make an effort and Asteras Tripolis were not necessarily better. But PAOK have just stopped scoring and that has resulted to their low morale in the end of a very strange season. Options were limited and the few players available were not clear-minded. Walter Iglesias’s strike in the 77th minute was enough to determine the winner.

It’s tough to encounter a silver lining in this situation. But, starting on Monday, the planning starts to turn things around and there is room to improve and implement the lessons of this season.

Line-ups:

Asteras Tripolis: Košický, Zisopoulos, Panteliadis, Sankaré, Goian, Munafo, Badibanga (61′ Iglesias), Kourbelis (87′ Alloco), Barrales, Rolle, Gianniotas (75′ Tsokanis)

PΑΟΚ: Itandje, Tzavellas, Vítor, Costa, Skondras, Tziolis (82′ Pozoglou), Kitsiou, Papadopoulos (70′ Pereyra), Mak, Koulouris (59′ Κ.Savvidis), Athanasiadis.
