«Focused for all 90 minutes»
Ricardo Costa returned to action against PAS Giannina wearing the captain’s armband. He spoke to Novasports TV ahead of the encounter against Levadiakos.
Here is what the Portuguese defender had to say:
About his return to action after his injury:
«I am very happy to be back after four weeks of hard work. I tried to perform well. Getting just one point out of the encounter was not the desired result. We are working hard to be better in our next encounter».
What he thought of the team during his absence:
«The team is getting better as time goes by. That is normal when there is a change of coach. Different philosophy, different tactics, different method of work».
Whether the team will be ready for the play-offs:
«We have enough time. There are two matches left and four weeks ahead –it’s the equivalent of a preseason stage. It’s enough time to get ready and top the play-offs».
About wearing the captain’s armband in the encounter against PAS Giannina:
«My main objective is to be a professional on and off the pitch at every club I play for. That is my character. Wearing the captain’s arm reflects one’s effort and personality. It’s an honour to be PAOK’s skipper».
About the encounter against Levadiakos:
«We need to be focused for all 90 minutes and not concede possession. We must watch out our transition game. Levadiakos will attempt to take advantage of our errors, launch counterattacks and win the game. They will try to play quickly in attack and defence. PAOK need to be consistent, keep control of proceedings and make the most of opportunities to score».
Whether the football team is still a long way from experiencing the volleyball team’s success:
«It’s tough to predict how much time PAOK need to win a title. Football is a team sport, such as volleyball. We are a big team and we need to work and improve constantly. I hope that we will qualify for the UEFA Champions League qualifiers and win the league title next season. That depends on the club as an entity, on our work and our decisions».
