“I want to win titles with PAOK”

Ergys Kace replied to fans’ questions through the official website of the Super League. Here is his interview.

What was your goal at the start of the current season?

Our goal was and remains the same: to build a very good team that will play attractive football, will respond to PAOK’s engagements in Greece and Europe and will be the backbone of the squad in upcoming years. On the competitions’ front, our remaining aim is to top the play-offs.
What is to blame for the team’s poor showings in the second round of fixtures?

This is a question often posed to me and my teammates. We are not the ones that should answer it, nor is there just one cause for the mediocrity. I can safely say that we are all responsible and that all such discussions should be handled within the team”.
You are a graduate of the club’s youth system. When playing, you feel as any professional player or rather a PAOK player?

I am a professional player with strong feelings for the club that nurtured and helped me become who I am now. For all guys brought up at PAOK, it’s an honour to step on the pitch of Toumba Stadium and wear the PAOK shirt. It’s a special feeling. However, during the match, one must be a perfect professional, otherwise they will end up hurting themselves and the team. My feelings for PAOK though make me give it 100% whenever I play.
Your thoughts regarding your future career?

I don’t think nor stress about it. My only concern now is to help my team and work hard in order to improve. Nobody can tell what the future holds.
Were you to leave PAOK, which club would you dream of joining?

There is no player that wouldn’t like to play in one of Europe’s top leagues. As said though, I don’t fuss about the future. I am at PAOK and only care about PAOK.

What led you to become a holding midfielder? Your body type, your playing characteristics, your coaches’ advices? Did you ever dream of occupying another position on the pitch?

My body type is far from ideal for my position! But I like playing in midfield, help the team both in defence and attack, participate in the game. I admit that my coaches’ advises have guided me so far in my career.
You are constantly improving and adding new elements to your game. Do you believe that you should focus now on improving your vertical passing?

Why not? Accurate vertical passing is a very important virtue for a midfield player, as they can split the rivals’ defence.
Your biggest dream that hasn’t been fulfilled yet?

To play in the UEFA Champions League and win titles with PAOK.
Your most decisive goal scored so far?

I would pick the last one, against AO Kerkyra, as it handed us victory.
Your message to PAOK fans?

We need our fans on our side. We acknowledge having disappointed them in the second half of the season with our mistakes, but we will reach our goals only if we stand united, as one family.
