Here is what Angelos Anastasiadis said in the press conference held at “Th.Vardinoyannis” Stadium after the encounter against OFI:

His initial statement:

“It’s one of the worst days in my career. I take full responsibility. We wasted the first half without attempting even one shot. It’s a disgrace for all of us. I bear responsibility. During the interval, I told my players that this performance is not what I have been working on and that I will hand my resignation to the administration. I repeated it to them just now and I told Mr. Angelidis as well. I am the last person to create a problem. It’s up to the administration now. If they want me to remain until the end, I will be here for as long as they need me. I am very upset with what I saw. My decision to resign is my way of making it easy for those calling the shots. I am not leaving, I am here. I never left my post, unless that happened quickly and without problems”.

About the reason for his resignation:

“Can anyone else, except me, leave? I was the first to declare that we are gunning for the league title. We have been in this situation since the Asteras game. We are eight points behind. It’s Greece. All it takes is a good jolt. I don’t believe that PAOK need a coach to overcome the hurdle of OFI who have been facing serious problems lately. I know that this is not a nice thing to say about OFI –they ought to be congratulated. Maybe I failed to convince my players. Who is to blame for this?”

About fielding Glykos in the starting line-up:

“It’s not about the names, it’s about the team. What would happen if Glykos didn’t play? Last week we had the same discussion about Mak. The problem is the team”.

Regarding the Tzavellas issue:

“I will not have this debate. I am with PAOK”.
