Born on 30 September 1956 in Copenhagen, Denmark, Frank Arnesen enjoyed a glorious career at the ranks of AFC Ajax (1975-1981), Valencia CF (1981-1983), RSC Anderlecht (1985-1988). He was capped 52 times with Denmark, conjuring up 14 goals.

After hanging up his football boots, he was appointed assistant coach at PSV Eindhoven (1991-93). He became their director of football in 1994, a post he occupied for a decade. He was credited with discovering and luring to Eindhoven great talents such as Ronaldo, Jaap Stam, Ruud Van Nistelrooy and Arjen Robben, to name just a few.

In 2004 he moved to Tottenham Hotspur FC for the technical director job at White Hart Lane. In the following season, he was approached by Roman Abramovich and signed for Chelsea FC. He stayed there for six years (2005-2011), before joining Hamburger SV for two years. Last year he took over the sports director role at FC Metalist Kharkiv, but resigned shortly afterwards because of the ongoing conflicts in Ukraine.

Frank Arnesen boasts a vast experience in sports management, specialized in discovering and establishing talented players. He has insisted in organized scouting and academy development in every club he has worked for.

The new sports director of the “Double-Headed Eagle” will be unveiled to the media after returning permanently to Thessaloniki. On that occasion, he will present his plans concerning the creation of new PAOK.

PAOK FC are honoured to welcome a top-level professional to their family!
