PAOK FC announce the signing of Facundo Abel Pereyra. The 26-year old Argentinian player penned a two-year contract. Pereyra crosses the Atlantic for the first time in his career. The diminutive Argentinian (1,70 m.) plays as attacking midfielder or second striker and had two very good seasons at Club de Gimnasia y Esgrima La Plata, scoring 24 goals in 66 matches. In 2012-13, he starred in the team’s promotion to Argentinian top-flight football.

Pereyra started his career at the youth ranks of Club Atlético Estudiantes de Buenos Aires, lining up more than 100 encounters from 2006 to 2009. In the summer of 2009 he was shipped on loan to Palestino in Chile, but soon returned to Estudiantes. Two years later, he went to Chile again, signing for Audax Club Sportivo Italiano and producing an excellent season with 15 goals in 34 matches. In 2012 he moved to San Luis, but the Mexican club soon faced acute financial problems leading to their dissolution in 2013.

So Facundo returned to Argentina and joined Gimnasia La Plata where he produced his best performances to date. He led Gimnasia back to Argentina’s first division with 15 goals and proved he was up for top flight football, adding 9 goals in his first season there.

His contract with Gimnasia La Plata expired this summer, however his deal with San Luis, who had been taken over by Jaguares de Chiapas, was still in effect, despite lodging a complaint before FIFA. After his letter of clearance was sent, the Argentinian signed his contract with PAOK.
